The Canadian Production Design Association has been invited to present its Circular Production Design-Build Pilot Workshop at the 2026 Production Designers Gathering in Spetses, Greece.
Organized by the Production Designers Collective, the Gathering brings together production designers from around the world for several days of panels, workshops, mentorship and conversations focused on the craft and future of production design. The inaugural Gathering in 2022 welcomed more than 250 production designers, and the Production Designers Collective now includes more than 1,500 members across 75 countries.
CPD President Rose Lagacé will take part in Advocacy Wins: Success Stories from Production Design Associations Worldwide on October 18. The panel will bring together advocates from production design organizations in Canada, Colombia, Brazil, the Czech Republic and the United Kingdom to share case studies demonstrating what can happen when production designers organize collectively.
The CPD will present its Circular Production Design-Build Pilot Workshop as a Canadian case study, sharing the development of the training initiative and its focus on circular design, sustainable workflows, skills development and collaboration across the art department.
Joining Lagacé on the panel are Diego Garcia of the Asociación de Trabajadores del Arte para el Audiovisual (ATAAC) in Colombia, Daniela Medeiros of Brada Coletivo: Diretoras de Arte do Brasil (BRADA), and Stella Šonková of Czech Production Design. May Davies of the British Film Designers Guild (BFDG) will moderate. The session is presented in collaboration with International Advocates of the Production Designers Collective.
The wider 2026 Gathering program includes discussions on aesthetics, international production, education, visual effects, artificial intelligence, mentorship and community building, alongside panels featuring production designers working across film and television internationally.
The invitation offers the CPD an opportunity to share work being developed in Canada while learning from the experiences of production design organizations working in different regions and production environments around the world.
